Babe Tour: Babe-ing up New England

Babe Tour ended a few weeks ago, but I’m still unraveling the threads of our adventures and how much fun we had at all of our shows!

So many highlights. Technical problems at almost every stop making fun chaos, as to be expected. Massive shoutout to Buck Gooter for mic-ing my broken laptop. The angel Jeff Hartford became the number one Babe Tour fan, which became a wild and ongoing freak-out in the babe tour clown car. The homey Sev and his doggie opened up their home for us, I’ll never forget the babes doing qi gong on their New England porch in the morning. Everyone’s performances were incredible, but special shoutouts to Sev’s TV show and gorgeous goth performance (Revenge Body) on a dimly lit staircase, and the unbelievable Phemale delivering pure brilliance and bringing a dollhouse on stage! Phemale is the best artist alive straight up. The Babes lost their ever loving mind!

Shopping for dress (ha ha) with my girls all over Maine. Another beautiful home and amazing hosts in Portland. A normal person coming to the Babe Tour show and getting their brain cracked open. Then up to Belfast for a private screening. I fell in love so hard with Selkie’s Pearl and Moon of Hyldemoer’s Occult Garden that I went blind with a rare ocular migraine from an overstimulated visual cortex. Katy performed some weird and painful ear acupressure on me, crying and blind and terrified over a Thai tea in a farmer’s market, and I was cured within minutes.

We stayed on Clay Camero’s land in Maine and ran into Penny and Chouser (who has a music video coming out soon). I sure am bad at being outdoors, but I loved bathing nude in the river with all of The Babes! To quote Justin, this is what you all see when you close your eyes and think of babes.

Vermont so fun and what a pretty drive through NH! Blood of a Poet killing it with the pipes! Katy and I went straight up Muppet Cape Fear in the quiet church. You can not give babes the opportunity to go Statler and Waldorf in a balcony. I still don’t know who shushed me at my own show, but I’m going to find you and kick your ass one day. It is on sight, shusher, you have been warned! I’m dead ass!

Then we headed back to NYC for a gorgeous show at the Roxy, where we saw friends and my favorite lady Allie dressed in a tin foil hat and a full outfit of lingerie hidden under a silk robe.. Amazing and legendary and inspiring. Jesus and Kira from Honk! Magazine were there, fresh off a very successful time at Please Knock Art Fair. Kira could be heard laughing at the most perverted scenes and the Marx puppet cameo. The audience suffered through a grand Babe Tour finale and walkouts ensued. For those who powered through, the reward was an orchestra from a queen followed by a puppet show.

After that, I left the Babe Tour clown car and met up with my guy Aaron. We headed back to Philly on the amtrak, where I had a nervous breakdown after being called back to the mammogram panini machine for having cystic dense breasts. But after the fog cleared, Babe Tour unfurled its wild, messy, and beautiful tendrils. So many memories. Aaron played a fun show at Brick Bat while I sat down on a stool and pretended to BJ. I mean VJ. I do not have breast cancer lol.

Thank you to every performer, friend, and nasty little freak who came out, wore something hot, bought my weird ass perfumes that smelled like bathroom cleaner bc making perfume is hard, thanks to everyone who didn’t say anything about the obvious technical difficulties, who cackled and heckled in the dark, did not shush us, and made every night its own little babe world.
